- Mallplaza joins the initiative “SiEmpre por Chile,” promoted by the CPC and Movidos por Chile, contributing food hampers to benefit over 9,700 families in 11 municipalities in Santiago, Antofagasta, Copiapó and Concepción.
Santiago, 1 June 2020 – Over 9,700 families from the territories where Mallplaza has a presence will receive a box of staple foods as part of the shopping center company’s social actions to accompany neighbors who have been hit the hardest by the economic effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
This afternoon, Mallplaza Antofagasta assistant manager Cecilia Díaz delivered 600 food hampers to Antofagasta Mayor Karen Rojo to begin distribution to the region’s most vulnerable neighbors.
“At Mallplaza we know our neighbors and communities and are aware that the health crisis is also impacting them economically, especially our most vulnerable neighbors. For this reason, we will be providing 600 food hampers here in Antofagasta over the next three months,” Mallplaza Antofagasta deputy manager Cecilia Díaz said.
“We are receiving very important help this morning that will allow thousands of Antofagasta families to continue to benefit. We received 600 food hampers, which are being taken to municipal facilities to quickly respond to the call of our neighbors. So, I am very grateful and continue to encourage people to take these companies as an example, which are now collaborating with great commitment to the Antofagasta Region,” Mayor Karen Rojo said.
“We believe that this articulation between Mallplaza, the CPC and Movidos x Chile is an example of a Chile in transformation, beginning with the willingness, support and commitment to generate a chain of solidarity and go in support of families that are currently in economic difficulties because of the pandemic,” said Pablo Flores of Movidos x Chile.
The initiative will be replicated in different cities around the country, renewing the commitment Mallplaza has had to its neighboring communities in its 29 years of history.
