Santiago, 5 August 2020 – This morning Mallplaza announced the acquisition of the Calima shopping center in the heart of Bogota, in an area with high potential for economic and commercial development and connected to the city’s main access roads and public transportation.
Mallplaza’s arrival in Bogota also includes opening the first IKEA store in Colombia. The Swedish chain dedicated to the manufacture and retail sale of furniture, home and decoration products with a contemporary design will open in 2023. Mallplaza’s value proposition also includes a Homecenter, a Cinépolis cinema complex and Hipermercado Éxito, in addition to top retail brands, dining and mixed-use spaces, incorporating digital and omnichannel solutions to improve the experience for tenants and visitors.
Thus, the company will add over 66,000 m2 of GLA and bring its leasable area in Colombia to a total of 190,000 m2. This shopping center’s acquisition is part of the company’s strategic plan to enhance its presence and positioning in Colombia. It involves an investment of USD 128 million.

The Calima shopping center will be its fourth urban center in Colombia, joining Mallplaza Manizales, Mallplaza Cartagena, and Mallplaza Buenavista in Barranquilla.
