Mallplaza consolidates itself as the most sustainable real estate management company in the region

  • The company was listed in the Chile and MILA indexes of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for the sixth consecutive year, reaffirming its commitment to people, the environment and ethical and responsible behavior.

27 November 2020.- Mallplaza received a strong show of support for its sustainability management from the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, considered the global sustainability index that recognizes leading companies for their economic, social and environmental performance.

In the recently released report with results, Mallplaza was included in the Chile and MILA indexes for the sixth consecutive year, an important ranking on both indexes and with a score higher than 98% of the world’s companies in the industry. In addition, this year it was the only company from the Real Estate sector in both indicators.
“The results obtained reflect Mallplaza’s conviction regarding the need to make further progress on a solid and proactive ESG strategy for decision-making that is at the business’s core, thus reaffirming our commitment to people, the environment and ethical and responsible behavior,” said Mallplaza Corporate Affairs Manager María Irene Soto.

This market recognition adds to other acknowledgments obtained during the year, such as the AA rating obtained in the MSCI index for the second year running.

ESG commitments

In 2023, Mallplaza strengthened its ESG strategy and established seven commitments, which are: 100% renewable energy supplies by 2026; reducing the energy intensity of common expenses by 22% in 2035 versus baseline 2019 (kWh/GLA); eliminating the use of hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) in air conditioning systems by 2030; reducing the intensity of direct water consumption by 30% in 2025 versus baseline 2019 (m3/GLA); recycling 60% of waste produced in its urban centers by 2025; having a positive impact on 1 million people through social programs and projects by 2028; and lastly, certifying 60% of the company’s urban centers as inclusive spaces by 2028.
