  • Today the first 500 hampers were delivered to the municipality of La Florida, which the municipality and the Movidos x Chile team will distribute every month for a period of 3 months.

Santiago, 18 May 2020 – Over 9,700 families from the territories where Mallplaza has a presence will receive a box of staple foods as part of the shopping center company’s social actions to accompany neighbors who have been hit the hardest by the economic effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

This morning, Mallplaza Vespucio assistant manager Andres Van Wersch delivered the  first 500 of a total of 1,500 food hampers to La Florida Mayor Rodolfo Carter to begin their distribution to the most vulnerable neighbors in the municipality.

“At Mallplaza we know our neighbors and communities and are aware that the health crisis is also impacting them economically, especially our most vulnerable neighbors. This is why we are promoting the campaign “Moving forward together, We will get through this,” which will allow us to deliver over 1,500 food hampers here in La Florida over the next three months,” Mallplaza Vespucio assistant manager Andres Van Wersch said.

La Florida Mayor Rodolfo Carter said that “we are very grateful to Mallplaza Vespucio, which is such an important neighbor, in the heart of La Florida, and today has to be in the heart of La Florida residents when they need it most; today the fear of the pandemic and economic needs are hitting many of our neighbors very hard. La Florida is very grateful for what Plaza Vespucio has done, especially as one of our neighbors. Today they delivered the first 500 boxes that will go to help those families that need it most and they have committed another thousand in the next 60 days. Plaza Vespucio is demonstrating what a great shopping center it is and is coming through as a great neighbor for the rest of La Florida; we’re very grateful.

The donation of over 9,780 food hampers is part of the SiEmpre initiative, Business Solidarity and Innovation, led by the CPC and its branches, which invited companies of all sizes and sectors to commit to the most vulnerable families in the country.

“This is a great opportunity to highlight intersectoral commitment and work in emergency situations. We believe that this articulation between Mallplaza, the CPC and Movidos x Chile is an example of a Chile in transformation, beginning with the willingness, support and commitment to generate a chain of solidarity and go in support of families that are currently in economic difficulties because of the pandemic,” said Pablo Flores of Movidos x Chile.

Starting today, the initiative will be replicated in different cities around the country, renewing the commitment Mallplaza has had to its neighboring communities in its 29 years of history.
